Data Centre Power Supply

20 MW data centre energy centre with gas fired engines and Solar PV

Encora Energy is supporting the development of a 20 MW prime power solution for a data centre featuring a diverse technology mix. The project includes gas-fired, hydrogen-ready reciprocating engines housed within a dedicated Energy Centre, delivering power to the data centre via a private wire high-voltage connection. A complementary 20 MW solar farm supplies the Energy Centre at 33 kV, with engine output dynamically controlled to balance data centre demand against solar generation.

From project inception, Encora Energy has played a key role, including site selection for both the solar farm and Energy Centre, and managing engagement with all project stakeholders. Core activities have included site layout planning, securing planning permissions, and electrical system design. Encora developed comprehensive tender packages, oversaw the tendering process, and provided detailed bid evaluations and recommendations. The team also worked closely with the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) to secure necessary amendments to the grid connection.

All planning consents and tender processes have been completed, with construction slated to begin in 2025. Encora Energy anticipates appointment as Owners Engineer for both the Energy Centre and solar projects, and is being considered for ongoing asset management responsibilities upon commissioning. This project underscores Encora’s expertise in integrating complex energy systems to deliver reliable, flexible power solutions tailored to demanding client needs.
