Encora Energy partnered with our client, a high net worth individual, to develop a 4.6 MW gas-fired peaking power plant that was successfully awarded a 15-year Capacity Market contract in the 2019/20 T-4 auction. Encora took full responsibility for project specification and vendor selection, choosing two 2.3 MW MWM gas engines, which are packaged and controlled by Edina for reliable, remote operation to provide peaking power as needed.
Acting as the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) contractor, Encora managed multiple contracts across detailed design, engine supply, civils, grid and gas connections, mechanical works, and both high and low voltage electrical installations. Through this approach, Encora ensured seamless coordination and integration across all project interfaces. Additionally, Encora served as the Construction Design and Management (CDM) Principal Designer and Principal Contractor throughout the commissioning phase, maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.
The plant is connected to the grid via an 11 kV, 4.6 MW connection and continues to operate remotely under Encora’s ongoing operations management. This project highlights Encora Energy’s capability to deliver complex, multi-contract energy projects with a focus on operational excellence and long-term value.
